First day in Halifax

It's raining. It was raining for the last 2 days. It will be raining for at least the next 2 days, or at least so says the automated weatherman on CBC radio.
Today's highlight was the Citadel, which used to be a big armed forces post. We saw the barracks, the midday cannon fire (which Halifax still does daily and which runs on a slightly different time than the bells on the clock tower) and got insight into the conditions of the time and the uniforms. Not too bad by confederation, though a 1.5ft bed shared with a wife and kids (kids underneath), in a room with 20 other beds, which is what they did before then, would have been tough.
Dalhousie residence is really cheap, $27 for a single room with a sink (after student discount).
